Halo was Xbox's staple game in the early days. It was the driving force behind the success of the Xbox. Halo 2 solidified the Xbox's spot among the top game consoles, beating out the Playstation 2 in sales across the USA. Halo 3, being the newest release, and the supposed last installment of the Halo series, has enjoyed a ridiculous amount of success. According to Wikipedia, ''Halo 3 grossed $300(US) million in its first week. More than one million people played Halo 3 on Xbox Live in the first twenty hours. As of January 3, 2008, Halo 3 has sold 8.1 million copies, and was the best-selling video game of 2007 in the US.''

i totally agree with the articleHalo: What's The Big Deal?
I'm not the hugest fan, but really, these Halo 3 bashing topics are getting annoying. So you're not impressed with it. Who caaares?Halo: What's The Big Deal?
I thought Halo 1 and 2 were really boring, the multiplayer is okay but it's definitley not what the hype says it is.
Those are all things I've known for a long time. Ever since Halo CE, skill has gone down the drain, and been replaced with luck and cheap weapons.
It wasnt a big deal to me at all. I only played the last one (halo 3). I was on the other console until I upgraded to the 360. Still...I ended the last one and felt left out. The story didnt mean anything to me. Dont get me wrong the graphics, online, and the features were all tight. I just felt left out, maybe it was a bigger deal to guys who played all of the previous halo games.
WOW! You're the first person to EVER have this opinion and you're so cool for saying it.God, how blind was I. I'm never going to play Halo again because a guy on an internet forum said he didn't like it. Thanks a lot for that.
What is up with you people? So what if people like Halo? Is it hurting you?A better question is why does it bother people that some people like to have a good time. Let us enjoy our Halo while you go play somthing else.
Those are all things I've known for a long time. Ever since Halo CE, skill has gone down the drain, and been replaced with luck and cheap weapons.
LOL! I suppose as long as a great game like Halo exist there will always be haters but the guy who wrote that artcle is a true piece of work.''So maybe the Halo series deserves its props and success, but maybe it doesn't. If you are a serious Halo player, ask yourself, how many times have you died without knowing why? How many times have you been beaten by someone you KNOW isn't as good as you because of glitches, camping, cheating or other ridiculous reasons? Should a game that is geared towards bad player really be at the top of the video game industries ''most wanted list?'' Or does none of that matter when deciding what a good game is? These are the big questions you as a gamer should ask yourself when wondering what the big deal about the Halo series is.''Only a no skilled noob whould complain about dying in a game as well balanced as Halo(3). p.s. Here's a tip. If you dont like the energy sword or the Fist of Rukt then dont pick them up...genius.
I think it's a fair assessment that the franchise never broke any new ground with its sequels. However, many of the author's complaints are just nitpicks, like the Elite headshot issue. There's also this:
If you are a serious Halo player, ask yourself, how many times have you died without knowing why? How many times have you been beaten by someone you KNOW isn't as good as you because of glitches, camping, cheating or other ridiculous reasons?
You can replace ''Halo'' up there with ''Gears,'' ''Call of Duty,'' ''Team Fortress,'' or virtually any other shooter. These are all problems common to deathmatching, and have been for well over a decade. These are not stunningly original points the author is making here.
Ok people i dislike sports games and racing games so everyday i'm going to create useless topics bashing them just to be uber special. Seriously dislike the game stay away from the game it's not that hard. You're like fanboys that come into other forums to bash their console. How about you avoid the Halo 3 topics and avoid talking about it if you hate it?
The only thing halo needs is a kill cam like cod4, other than that it's fun for a while. It's a big deal because it was the first great shooter the xbox had and it was there since launch. I mean what shooters were out before halo that were decent? Goldeneye, then what? COD? MoH? Nah.

I noticed that when I first started playing halo 3 (never played the other 2). 90% of the players online were spartans so I wanted to be elite (mostly because I find them to be incredibly cool), and I soon noticed weird things about the elite model... I changed them, looked at them side by side... and say WHATEVER YOU WANT, but I call it BALANCED. (maybe not perfect but whatever)Spartan is a regular tall human, with a perfect posture, and well built body... we're all used to the human body so we know how to ''headshot it''Elites are freaking ALIENS, they are supposed to look different! The elite model is a bit shorter, and has the head in front of his body. That means of course you can't headshot an elite from it's back, and it's a LITTLE BIT more annoying to shoot it from the sides, however, elites are wider, which means it's way easier to shoot it from a distance, and much easier to stick a grenade on it. And if you're complaining about not being able to headshot it from it's back... IT'S FREAKING EASY TO HEADSHOT FACING IT! Since it's head is almost in front of it's chest! Shoot at the chest and you're likely to hit it's head, even if you're not really planning to...I'm not a fanboy, and I agree with some things the article said, but 80% of it is crap EDIT: i'm glad to see some smart people around like you Palantas, the guy who said: '' If you are a serious Halo player, ask yourself, how many times have you died without knowing why? How many times have you been beaten by someone you KNOW isn't as good as you because of glitches, camping, cheating or other ridiculous reasons?'' most likely rarely plays shooter games.

I personally never noticed the Elite/Spartan disparity, but I haven't played enough Halo to consider myself an expert.
Wrong, you can get a headshot on an elite from the back pretty easily. Its very similar to getting a headshot on a spartan. They are very very slightly harder to shoot with a br in the head, because it twitces, but its barely a complaint to make.

Dont be a hater! If you dont like halo well then just dont buy it! This artical is also bias.
Halo 3 came out in september, move on.And those video examples are ridiculous. I want the writer of that article to make a lag free online game then he can bash Halo 3 all he wants. Cause every ''bs'' moment he showed was just lag.
