I dont have a hi def tv so some of my 360 games have those rectangles on the top and bottom of the screen. Ie mass effect and Bad company. is there any way to changes this. Thanksscreen format
It's because of the aspect ratio of the screen you are using. Older TVs display in 4:3, whereas the games try to display in 16:9.If you try to display 16:9 on a 4:3 TV, you get black bars across the top and bottom of the screen.screen format

go get a hi def man
go get a hi def man
Seriously, I bought a 19'' 720p LCD HDTV for just $300.
Yeah well i only have 30 bucks so i guess ill have to put up with it for a while:?
If you have a widescreen PC monitor you could use the 360 VGA cables to play on that. You'll get HD and not have to drop the money on an HDTV (yet). The official ones are $40 and the way to go.

I've used my 360 on a 19'' Widescreen Viewsonic PC monitor and a 19'' Dell standard 4:3 monitor and both were great. For the Official Microsoft VGA cable, check your local Sears and Toys R Us. I've seen it on clearance at both for as low as $4.97. The cool part about VGA is that it'll upscale your DVD movies too. They won't be HD but pretty close.
