Gears of War- Let down?

Does anyone feel, that after two years of hype and excitment, that Gears was a let down?Gears of War- Let down?
nope..i enjoyed it and i wasnt even hyping it when it was first shown. it was at E3 2006 and X6 that changed my views about gears of warGears of War- Let down?
i've not played it yet (i'm new to 360), but i hope it wont be.. i don't think it will the video's look great. really wish there was a demo for it though, i hate buying games based on video alone. now that i have a 360 with demo's available, i probably wontbuy many games unless there's a demo.no demo to me means eitherthe company knows the game sucks, or the company is greedy/lazy and knows people will buy it anyway.
2 yrs of hype? .. i only knew about gow like a month before launch heheh... i don't see it as a let down. people are just expecting too much from it. people are going to ask this same question when halo 3 comes out
You're right, they will ask the same question about Halo 3. But I find that the combatis too repetitive, and not enough of a challenge. And, until the recent addition of annex, I found multiplayer lacking.
I think the ''let down'' comes from people over playing the game. Any game will get old if you're playing it for a couple of hours every day. I think it lives up to the hype. Imagine what it had to live up to. Videos were around in early 2005. Maybe even earlier than that. I had been looking forward to this game since before the 360 was even released. The graphics were as advertised. The gameplay was different than just about every big 1st person shooter. The multiplayer is fun when played with the right people. And the reviews were high. I got the game when it came out and I still enjoy playing it. I just don't over do it.
Well, my expectations exceeded what my intitial thoughts were. On the other hand, i just got dragged in the hype flow. I'm not much for action games anymore, but my mind just became ''Its Gears, has to be good''. I don't have live so... err, the SP wasn't much.I've played it live too, not for my taste.
Good point. But it just seems odd that I can play Oblivion, or even Rainbow Six for hours on end and not get utterly sick of the game. I'm not saying Gears is a bad game, but I don't believe it lived up to it's hype.
I don't like it much. It was alright the first few plays, but the single player is so very repetitive. I don't particularly like the online, because there's no variety to it. Just people rolling round blindfiring shotguns.

The only thing you may not like are some of the people that play it, but its good to remember that not all people are like that
Playing the game co-op is great and tons of fun... but the multi-player is so repetitive that I got sick of it within 3 weeks and haven't touched the game since.
I felt Gears was a let down for me but so was Halo 2, sadly I havnt played a good game in a very long time. I guess I'll just have to wait till Mass Effect comes out or maybe Halo 3. :?

I personally got bored after playing 3-4 hours of the game in campaign mode. Only my 12 years old brother still plays it to this day. I think the graphics aren't all that, honestly (Bravia 1080p TV by the way. Kameo looks better than it imo). I want to sellGOW just for the sake of not having it anymore in my library. Don't even get me started with the online mode. I think I never met so many rude and nasty people in a single online game, and trust me, I've played lots of online games.My 2 cents.
