Thought I share with you my adventure.I could write a very long story but I'm sure the majority of you are like me and want a quick story. Basic facts are I bought my Premium in May 2008. No issues till last night when I got the E 68 error which means bad hard drive. Yes it was really bad with all the clicking and odd noises coming from it. I had two options:1) Call MS - they said it'll be a free replacement but I have to ship the old back with my own money and it can take up to 10 days for them to ship out a new one.
2) Go to Best Buy and use my replacement warranty.I went for 2 because I just wanted a quick swap of my hard drive since Civ was coming out this week. Lady at Best Buy at first said it was no problem but then she got overruled by another lady. I ended up getting a new console. Why you may be asking did I just want a new hard drive. Main reason is that I had my 360 all setup the way I like it and was a pain to get the cables back out from where I had them. Another reason is that I still had faith in my console and as some old people say, why replace something that works. So of myself and three friends, this is the only problem we've had. Am I mad, no, just annoyed that I lost my Burnout Paradise save. Do I still love the 360, you bet I do. Do I still like Best Buy, well I'm very happy I got the replacement warranty but just wish they would do what the customer wants. Bad hard drive, just get one off the shelf. Oh well. Game on! Dead hard drive + Best Buy = story
I see that everything worked out but the reason they wouldn't just give you a harddrive off the shelf is because you bought the whole console, so their counts would be off for both the harddrive and the 360. Dead hard drive + Best Buy = story
wow, well, at least you got a new hard drive....
To add to the story.......First game I played with the new system was the NCAA Football 08 which is the game that I was playing when the hard drive died. I was able to play for about 8 minutes then the console locked up! I'm not joking. At least this time the hard drive wasn't clicking and when I turned if off/on, it didn't give me a error. So yeah, that game is never going back in my system again. Going to tell my buddy who I borrowed it from that he can take it and bury it somewhere. Levrar - Yeah, I understand their reason but don't mean I have to like it. :D Can't wait for Tuesday!
